Spencer Ends Morgan’s Two Year Reign in TSC Tri

Posted in ,

Richard Morgan’s two year reign as TSC Tri champion ended today (Feb 8) when Antony Spencer beat him by one minute and 36 seconds.

Antony was almost three minutes ahead of Richard out of the swim, but Richard was able to claw that deficit back on the cycling section.

Neck and neck at the bike transition, Antony managed to pluck victory out of the hat by pulling ahead and holding the lead in the run. Guy Williamson was exactly two minutes behind Richard, finishing third. Richard beat his winning time last year by 1 minute and 16 seconds. Antony didn’t compete last year.

In giving it his all to beat Richard, Antony managed to set a new course record shaving 6 seconds off the time set by Chris Ghiorse in 2010.

Deloitte comfortably held onto the Corporate Cup finishing over five minutes ahead of second placers Ernst & Young.
BDO was third.

Kay Reddy won the ladies, just under two minutes ahead of Natasha Ruscheinski. Debbie Bell took third place.

The event was held in less than perfect conditions with heavy rain during the ride with spray, headwinds, and slippery roads all added to the challenge. Three riders came off with one fall resulting in six stitches.

This season opener saw depleted numbers over last year but competitive spirit remained high with eight men, five ladies and six teams competing.
